			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The University of British Columbia is accepting applications for one renewable 12-month<br />
lecturer position in Hindi-Urdu, commencing <strong>July 1, 2012</strong>. The successful applicant will<br />
be asked to teach 24 credits of Hindi language courses at all levels. Depending on the<br />
applicant&#8217;s area of expertise, the 24 credit teaching load might include undergraduate<br />
lecture courses on South Asian culture, religion, literature or film.</p>
<p>Applicants are expected to have a spoken and written command of Hindi. Knowledge of<br />
Urdu is also desirable. Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field, and<br />
teaching experience in North America at college/university level; strong preference will be<br />
given for applicants with training in Applied Linguistics or Language Education.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Postdoctoral Fellowship</strong><br />
The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral programs in both English and French. With its 10,000 students, 260 full-time professors, and wide array of programs and research centres, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the University of Ottawa. Its graduate students are supervised by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty’s Master’s and Ph.D. programs.</p>
<p>The University of Ottawa, Faculty of Social Science, Chair in Taiwan Studies, invites applications for a fellowship in Taiwan Studies tenable at the University of Ottawa during the academic year 2012-13.</p>
<p>We welcome candidates in all fields of social science who specialize in any aspect of Taiwanese politics, economics, society, or culture. The main responsibilities of the Fellow are research, post-thesis writing, and administration of Chair activities.</p>
<p>QUALIFICATIONS<br />
Hold a Ph.D. in social science;<br />
Demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching and research;<br />
Should have strong demonstrated ability to read Mandarin Chinese, or, in the case of historical research, Japanese;<br />
Must specialize in Taiwan Studies.</p>
<p>BILINGUALISM<br />
The University of Ottawa is a bilingual institution. We welcome applications from potential candidates who can work in the official languages of Canada.<br />
HIRING CONDITIONS AND SALARY<br />
The Fellow will receive a stipend for the academic year of $28,000, plus benefits, but will also be able to teach one or two courses per semester.</p>

September 1st, 2012</p>

<p>Registration for CCSEAS 2011 begins today, and can  be completed through the University of Toronto&#8217;s ticketing agency &#8211;  UofTix. Please visit the conference registration page at <a href="../?page_id=582" target="_blank">http://www.casa-acea.ca/?page_id=582</a> for further details and a <a href="../wp-content/uploads/2011/05/CCSEAS-2011-preliminary-panels.pdf" target="_blank">preliminary list of panels and roundtables</a>. You will also find an application for a <a href="../?page_id=573" target="_blank">student travel bursary</a> on the same page. All paper presenters must register and pay conference fees by <strong>June 30th</strong> in order to remain on the program. Please contact us if you do not feel that you can make this deadline.</p>
<p>We would also like to draw your attention to the associated graduate student dissertation workshop, and remind you that <strong>June 1st</strong> is the deadline for applications.
